Its main rival, the Xbox One from Microsoft, is now available - take a look at our PlayStation 4 v Xbox One comparison for all the details.

In the meantime, and to ease the wait until your new console arrives, we'll keep this page updated with the latest news and rumours on forthcoming PlayStation 4 games and accessories, so please check back here from time-to-time.

What is the PS4?

The Sony Corporations' latest games console. With an all new AMD 8-core main processor coupled with a RADEON based graphics processing unit featuring 18 separate 800MHz cores the PS4 packs more processing power than any console ever released.

It also packs 8GB's of GDDR5 RAM, an integrated and upgradeable 500GB hard disk drive and a super fast 6x speed Blu-ray drive that is three times faster at reading and transferring data than the drive containing within the PS3.

Connectivity options are also now much improved over the PS3. Gigabit Ethernet is included and wireless network connectivity is now also standard, meaning you no longer need to buy an expensive wireless adaptor. Your free PS4 will also feature USB 3 ports and Bluetooth wireless connectivity.

The new controller, named DUALSHOCK 4, features new innovations to help deliver a more immersive gaming experience. An integrated touch pad is located on the top of the controller whilst a highly sensitive six-axis sensor offers gamers a completely new way to play and interact in games. The SHARE button is also new. One simple press is all you need to save your game footage or statistics. Just tag it and return to your game whilst the PS4 uploads your shares.

What's included with the PS4 package?

In the box you will find the PlayStation 4 System (just Jet Black colour available at the moment), one DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller, a Sony HDMI cable, the power cable, a wired mono headset and a USB Charging Cable.

Additional controllers as well as the PlayStation 4 Eye camera can be purchased as optional extras.

Better games

Thanks to the PS4's impressive processing power and excellent developer tools, the PS4 system enables the greatest game developers in the world to express their creativity as well as push the boundaries of what is possible more then ever before. The end result will be games with superbly detailed, high-fidelity graphics and a deeply immersive gaming experience never before seen on any game console.

The PlayStation 4 is the best place to play dynamic, connected gaming with powerful graphics, impressive speed and integrated social features.
